Smart AIR Solutions, an innovative concept created by Atlas Copco’s Oil-Free Air Division at the end of 2017, was officially launched at the Smart AIR Solutions Event in Antwerp in 2018, and subsequently rolled out globally in 2019.

Smart AIR Solutions in Action: From Belgium to China

Following the success of the April 2018 Airpower Smart AIR Solutions event in Belgium, Atlas Copco hosted a regional Smart AIR Solutions showcase at its Wuxi factory from December 2–4, 2019.

The event opened with remarks from Philippe Ernens, President of the Oil-Free Air Division, followed by strategic insights from Vice Presidents Jan Verstraeten and Stan Laeremans, outlining the division’s vision of customer value creation.

A total of 23 smart technologies were exhibited, including:

• The classic Z series
• Advanced dryers such as F+ and ND
• System optimization tools
• A new lineup of low-pressure innovations including the extended ZS range, and new models like ZM, ZE, and ZHL

Digital Tools & Intelligent Platforms

Chris Park, Vice President of Communication and Competence Development, presented the division’s digital transformation journey and introduced new tools that are revolutionizing how we work and sell. Attendees were impressed by the cutting-edge digital platforms and sales enablers.

On-Site Factory Tour and Competitive Testing

Participants toured the Wuxi facility, observing:

• The latest product lines
• New testing laboratories
• Direct comparative tests between the latest GA compressors and competing products

These demonstrations reinforced confidence among customer centers across the Asia-Pacific region.

Hands-On Learning & Strategic Insights

On Day 3, four product booths were organized, each focusing on:

• Low-pressure compressors
• Oil-lubricated screw compressors
• Oil-free screw compressors
• Centrifugal compressors

Sessions also covered marketing trends, competitive analysis, and special application projects, equipping participants with market-ready knowledge.

The 3-day event in China was a resounding success, further embedding the Smart AIR Solutions mindset and customer-centric values across the region.
