July 17, 2020 — The online launch event for Atlas Copco’s localized SF oil-free scroll compressor series created waves of excitement—not of heat and discomfort, but rather the long-awaited relief of a long-anticipated product finally hitting the Chinese market.

Over 400 participants joined the interactive virtual event, which presented the past, present, and future of the SF series. The host highlighted the key features of the newly localized SF range and performed a live teardown of the machine, offering a deep dive into its inner workings under the scrutiny of an enthusiastic online audience. A fun “easter egg” segment concluded the session, demonstrating the low vibration and ultra-quiet operation of the domestic SF model using a coin balance test.

The launch of the SF 2–6 range marks a significant evolution of this classic Atlas Copco product. Built on advanced design principles and decades of manufacturing experience from Atlas Copco Airpower in Belgium, the localized version is produced at the Wuxi factory, featuring:

• A new visual identity, reflecting Atlas Copco’s latest branding
• Smart control integration, enhancing user interaction and aligning with Industry 4.0 standards

New Highlights of the Made-in-China SF Series

• The blue stripe with five performance icons on the exterior symbolizes the five core values of the SF series: Class 0 oil-free, energy efficiency, sustainability, compactness, and low noise
• A smart controller replaces the traditional counter and switch system, significantly improving user experience and connectivity
• The integrated full-performance dryer now displays precise dew point readings via a digital interface, replacing the previous analog pointer for clearer, more intuitive compressed air quality monitoring

This localized SF series represents not only a technological and user-focused upgrade, but also the first step in Atlas Copco’s broader China localization strategy for the SF line. With further customization options and continued product evolution on the horizon, the SF scroll compressor is set to bring new value and innovation to the market for small oil-free compressed air systems in China.
